WELCOME
Lily Palazzi is the author of the memoir My Daddy the Pedophile. She wrote this book for two reasons. First, Lily promised her inner child she’d tell her story—a story she knew but didn’t yet understand. Lily’s father had done unspeakable things to her when she was little—some would say unforgivable things—but he'd also rescued her from her abusive mother who scared her to death, and he'd saved her when she lay dying. At first Lily had no idea how to tell her inner child's story. But then she had a dream. It was about her father, forgiveness, and her. That dream is where Lily began writing her book—the end written first. Seven years later she finished writing her final version of her book, but she never changed that perfect ending. Lily knows it sounds crazy, but for all she’s been through and for all she’s taught her, her inner child is her hero. The second reason Lily wrote this book is that she truly believes her experience of survival, healing, and breaking the cycle of abuse will provide hope and ultimately help people. There have been many memoirs that explore the issues of child abuse and suffering, but they neglect to describe the healing process. Instead, most memoirs conclude with the end of the abuse. To Lily, when the abuse ends is when the real story begins. The first part of her book tells the abuse, but the second part details the healing. Lily believes her memoir offers a message of hope for survivors that sadly cannot be found among most child abuse memoirs.
